Jury in South Carolina Awards $29 Million in Talc Asbestos Case

Talc supplier Whittaker, Clark & Daniels found responsible for woman's mesothelioma in case that initially included beauty brands Mary Kay, Avon and others.

A South Carolina jury has found in favor of a woman with mesothelioma and ordered talc supplier Whittaker, Clark & Daniels to pay her $29.14 million. The case—”Sarah Plant v. Avon Products Inc., et al., Case No. 2022CP4001265—was filed in Richland County Circuit Court. It is believed to be the first cosmetic talc asbestos case involving Mary Kay, according to the legal team that represented the 36-year-old woman in the case.
